The south–east region event K2 Crawley Triathlon has been cancelled due to building works at the school.  It was hoped that it would be possible to add an alternative event to the series but this now looks very unlikely. This leaves only 2 events left in the series at Dorney Lake (12/07/08) and at Farnham (26/07/08.)  It is believed that the overall series placings will still be decided on the best 3 points scores of the now 4 event triathlon series

Bicester Junior Triathlon

Lizzie Barraclough was the Amersham Tristar of the day with a big win at Bicester.  Jumping in at the deep end by making her first ever triathlon a south-east region event, she lead from the swim start, onto the bike and finished a comfortable winner at the end of the run. Other Tristars finishing in the top 6 were Will Perkin (4th in the 9/10 year old boys,) Dan Barraclough and Kieran Wye (4th and 6th respectively in the 13/14 year old boys) and Emma Barraclough (6th in the 11/12 year old girls.) Chiltern Sports Awards has recognised Dan Barraclough’s 2007 triathlon year by announcing him the winner of the ‘Boys Award for Achievement in Sport for those under 15’.  The purpose of the Awards is to recognise exceptional amateur achievement through outstanding personal performance in 2007. Dan won a London series event and all 5 events in the south-east series and was therefore an automatic region selection for 2007 Inter Regional Championships in Glasgow. Unfortunately his bike chain snapped whilst he was competing for the lead bringing the championships and the season to an end.  Very well done to Dan and great for children’s triathlon to be featured up at the top of the sports too.

Hatch End results have now been finalised.  In addition to Mia and Dan’s firsts, Orla Fawcett finished 2nd, Will Perkin 4th, Max Elphick 5th and Emily Bench 6th. Unfortunately there were some issues with the results, probably Rachel Padwick not even being recorded as a finisher after her recent win at Hillingdon being the most disappointing!  Katie Bench also had to swim an extra 2 lengths. Still, there’s Bicester this weekend to have another go and perhaps to prove a few points.

The Tristars Annual Awards from 2007 are now on the site.

Hatch End Children's Triathlon - 11/05/08

A really sunny May day saw Mia Poplawska in the 9/10 girls category and Dan Barraclough in the boys 13/14 category provisionally announced as winners of their age groups.  One or two issues are still being cleared up before the results are finalised.  These are expected Tuesday or Wednesday.
